Charter schools are tuition-free public schools of choice. Each charter school is governed independently and just like traditional public schools, charter schools are funded by local, state and federal tax dollars based on student enrollment. Charter schools are required to meet all state and federal education standards, and they are evaluated according to how well they meet student achievement goals.

The mission of Innovation Charter School is to develop and nurture a collaborative community of learners with successful education models to impact tomorrow’s world today.

ICS is focused on integrating technology with learning instruction and has carefully selected a research-based curriculum that will ensure each student receives personalized instruction to achieve academic success. Our adaptive technology-integrated instruction adjusts to student performance, and teachers are provided with real-time data that allows for a more informed decision on a student’s progress that will assist in adapting their teaching methods to the student’s specific needs.

Charter schools are public schools of choice, meaning that families are given the choice to seek enrollment for their children at the school. Charter schools are given freedom to operate with their own teaching methods, which have been approved by the district/sponsor. Charter schools are accountable for academic results and for upholding the promises made in their charters. They must demonstrate performance in the areas of academic achievement, financial management, and organizational stability.

  • How can my student apply to Innovation charter school? Are there admission requirements?
  • How does the lottery system work?
  • When does the application process start and when is the deadline?
  • What paperwork do I need to enroll my student?
  • Will the school have a waiting list? Or how do I get my child on the waiting list?

Innovation Charter Schools (ICS) is open to ALL eligible children and we are committed to serving a student body that reflects Pompano Beach’s diverse cultural communities. Prospective students can apply online through our website or request a hardcopy from ICS–contact us. By law, charter schools cannot have admission processes that unlawfully discriminate against students; anyone can apply and, if more students want to attend than there are seats available, there is a lottery to determine which eligible candidates are admitted.

When a charter school receives more applications than there are seats available, the school is required to hold a random lottery to provide an equal opportunity for students to enroll. Applications are randomly drawn to determine who will be enrolled for the coming academic year. Once all available slots are filled, students are placed on a waiting list.

Applications for the 2017-2018 school year to be accepted from January 2017 until the beginning of the school year w/open enrollment until April 2017 with any application submitted post-April to be put on a waiting list for a lottery system.

Initially, only the basic information on the enrollment form is required. Following the lottery date, families with students randomly selected for enrollment in the school will be provided a list of necessary documentation to establish proof of residency, date of birth, immunization history, and other required information.

Students who are not enrolled through the lottery process or who submit enrollment forms outside the initial enrollment period will be placed on the school’s waiting list and will be offered seats as they become available prior to the start of school. Students who enroll before the end of the enrollment period will be contacted first on the waiting list, followed by students submitting enrollment forms after the end of the initial enrollment period.

  • Does it matter where I live? What is the attendance boundary?
  • Will ICS provide transportation?
  • How much does the school cost?
  • When does ICS start and when does the school year end?

As schools of choice, all charter schools are open to students who want to apply, regardless of where he or she lives, space permitting. Thus, ICS has an emphasis on serving the Pompano Beach community to provide a better school of choice.

If your child lives outside of walking distance from the school (greater than a mile away), Innovation Charter School will provide transportation to your student.

As a public charter school, Innovation Charter School (ICS) is free and open to all students who are in appropriate grades and reside within the district boundaries of Pompano Beach/Broward County.

ICS will follow the Broward County Public School calendar. For 2017, the first day of school is August 21, and school runs until June 6, 2018.
